Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday in US politics is the Tuesday of the year in early February or March of a presidential election year when a large percentaage of the primary elections are held. On February 5, 2008, Democrats will hold contests in 22 states and one territory, with 1,681 delegates at stake. On that day alone, 52 percent of all pledged delegates will be awarded, compared with the 4 percent that will have been allocated in the four opening competitions of the year. Republicans have scheduled contests in 21 states on Super Tuesday February 5, 2008 with 975 delegates at stake. Those delegates make up 41 percent of the total available, according to the Republican National Committee.

Super Tuesday at the Blog of the Day Awards is somewhat different. Super Tuesday here is an occasional Tuesday that is designated to clean out the old nominations for BOTDA candidate blogs. Super Tuesday is very similar to the Pancake Recipes Awards given out prior to Shrove Tuesday and called the Pancake Day Cleanup Awards and the Serendipity Sunday Blog of the Day Awards as well as the Super Saturday ... Blog of the Day Awards given on Super Saturday and the Wild Wednesday Blog Awards.
