27,130 hits and climbing!!!!! The Beanery Writers Group blog celebrated reaching its 20,000th hit April 1---and was NOT a joke.
The celebration included changing our identity from the Beanery Writers Group Blog to THE BEANERY ONLINE LITERARY MAGAZINE.
The access route--- www.ProBlogs.com/beanerywriters ---remains the same.
I believe the Beanery Online Literary Magazine deserves recognition as BLOG OF THE DAY because it demonstrates how a group of blog-illiterate writers can steadily raise the number of hits on their site.
When The Beanery Online Literary Magazine was initiated in late August, 2006, it had slow progress in attracting readers. This was because no group member understood how to set up and manipulate a blog.
By December site hits averaged 62 per day. In January they went up to 96.6, in February it rose to 135.5, and March ended with 174.3 hits per day. By April 10th the site had five days that averaged 300+ hits.
We’ve now set our new goal---400 hits a day, a real stretch! (You can help us reach our goal by clicking on www.ProBlogs.com/beanery writers. Remember to add us to your “favs” column and return daily to see our new post!)
I believe this slow but steady progress is due to the site’s quality writing in multiple genres, persistence in daily posting, addition of an index and amateur exploration in increasing blog traffic.
The site is open to local and long-distance members who are unable to attend meetings. It also invites children and visitors to contribute their best writing. Both actions help increase the number of hits as well as encouraging writers as far away as Arkansas and as close as next door.
Although the Beanery Writers Group relies on the ProBlog site template for its design their site is attractive.
The site’s success proves that even amateur, computer-illiterate persons can learn to navigate the Internet using simple, free tools. That’s why I nominate the Beanery Online Literary Magazine for BLOG OF THE DAY.

Hi!
I'd like to nominate Blog LATINA at http://bloglatina.wordpress.com
Here's the 411 on this blog:
Blog LATINA is the online spot for modern Latinas as we depict modern Latinas as they truly are: women with culture, beauty, and brains. With this mission, we present current, culturally relevant articles that embody and celebrate the different aspects of the life of a modern Latina, as well as the Latino community’s past, present, and future. Some topics covered here include Latino culture, style, beauty, food, arts, and politics, and we present an occasional history lesson. Additionally, a video or artwork illustrative of Latino and/or Latin American culture is featured on the first of every month. By covering this wide array of topics, we hope to help Latinas with their daily balancing acts as Latinas and modern women by portraying the unique needs and lifestyle of modern Latinas.
