Please consider a Blog of the Day Award for:
A Blue Girl in a Red State bluegirlredstate.typepad.com.Today she posted about her cousin who just died. Blue Girl's blog covers a wide spectrum, from politics to her personal opinions (always written with wit and charm) and insights into her life as a mother and wife. She's an adroit writer of daily life and its wider implications. Her voice is generally so natural and pleasant it's easy to overlook her real gifts as a writer/blogger. She writes about art and music and has lately been involved in an annual cookie bake-athon, that like the blogger herself approaches the Christian tradition with both affection and a slightly rebellious stance. Today's post about a cousin whose life and character deeply affected her as she was growing up, and the sudden, somewhat early loss the woman who influenced her, is especially poignant. To my mind, the post today, Sunday, December 16, 2007, is especially deserving of recognition.

http://homeiswherethecarsparked.com, "Home Is Where The Cars Parked".
This is the official blog kept by a midlife 50k income a year Florida couple who were left homeless in 2004 when 2 hurricanes literally took the roof over their heads, they then recovered and by 2006 had purchased another home. In 2007 the husband suffered a heart attack, after being home 4 weeks he returns to work and is told his position has been eliminated due to a corporate downsize. Within months they become homeless and left to live in the family car. The website is a daily digest of their struggles to recover from life on the street, their good and bad experiences such as being robbed and beaten on the street and how they came to live currently in a motel room for the winter in New Hampshire, 1400 miles from home. Their story is truly inspiring and draws the reader into their life to share it. A local journalist has arranged for a live life cast to be hosted on the couple in the near future so viewers may experience homelessness with the couple as they will be forced to once again live in their car by May when their motel winter rental runs out.
